Begin CPR. Check carotid pulse for at least 5 seconds, but no more than 10 seconds. If no pulse, begin CPR. 30 chest compressions followed by 2 breaths. Heel of one hand on lower half of sternum. Other hand on top of first hand. Straighten arms. Lock elbows. Push HARD AND FAST. Depress sternum at least 2 inches, but no more than 2.4 inches.100-120 compressions per minute. Allow chest recoil, which allows blood to flow back into heart. Once 30 compressions completed, do a head tilt/chin lift. If possible neck injury, use jaw thrust, not head tilt. If you have barrier device to use between your mouth and the victim’s face, use it. Give each breath slowly. Start another cycle of chest compressions.
